Page Flip Help
This page is for people with technical questions about the PageFlip effect code which I wrote back in 2002. I probably won’t be answering questions very frequently but I encourage everyone to use the Comments area to help each other out.

Adding Pages: If you want to know how to add more pages or why you get an error saying, “a ‘with’ action failed…”, you can read the tutorial explaining how to add pages.

I have the same problem with tabs. It seems that everything that sticks out of the print erea doesn’t show.
You will be able to resolve your problem by putting the spiral in the background.
I did this too to resolve my problem with tabs only now when you flip the last page you see the tabs which I don’t like. If anybody knows how to stop the last page from turning or knows how to make a tab flip with out the problem CZAR mentioned please let me know.
I also would like to make the cover hard and to tear pages of. Why is there no tutorial for that?

I have a couple of questions and hope you can help.
1. I am placing multiple flip books in one scene and I’m getting the following errors:
**Warning** The linkage identifier ‘print2’ was already assigned to the symbol ‘pepe-what02’, and cannot be assigned to the symbol ‘Trident2’, since linkage identifiers must be unique.

How can I fix this issue?
2. I would like to create a spiral binding for this, but I am running into issues with the full spiral showing on the front and back cover of the page without clicking on the corner after flipping though the page. Please take a look here: http://www.mutmut.com/pepe-what.html

Thanks so much for your help. This was terrific. I created a little journal, and worked nicely. I do have to fine tune it though. As the page edges have white spaces.

Hi…thank you very much for the flipbook 🙂 it really helped alot! However, i bump into a ‘linkage’ problem while trying to incoperate 2 books into a flash file. How do i seperate the content of both books?
@Adam, the Improved PageFlip does what you’re looking for.
@Czarina, open the Library panel, open the Buttons folder, edit the Corner Graphic to your liking.
@Richard, the PageFlip is a standard Flash MovieClip and may work with SQL and ASP.NET but making it do so is up to you.

Hi! I’ve one question: how to do it that this book opens on for example 5th page? I’ve created another application which contains links to this book’s pages, so which variable I should change? Of course I would like if I click on RButton I would like to see 2-3 pages and LButton to see 6-7 pages.
P.S i am also trying to figure out the same problem as ciara 😀 if u can help us both that would be great.

Hey ive downloaded the new page flip, I was wondering if you could help me with something.Im trying to put a button on one of the pages that will bring the user to another scene. ive used the code
on(release){
gotoAndPlay(“scene 1”)
}
but it wont work,im not even sure if this is possible?Would there be another way around it?

Hi Pixelwit, first off thanks a million for this code! It’s brilliant! Was wondering if you could help me with audio.
I’m trying to get the background track to change when the user gets to a certain page. So I’ve tried this:
I’ve added an empty movieclip to hold the sound,
Linked the sounds from library by exporting for actionscript.
To start the music I’ve tried to put an invisible (alpha=0) button to the corner of the page 3 movieclip for example, so that when the user turns the page they unknowingly click the button that stops one audio track and starts another.
But for some reason when I put those buttons in the corner where the page flip would happen they don’t work. But they do work if they’re placed anywhere else on the page. Any ideas?? Thanks for your time,

P.s. I tried to put the code on the first frame of the page mc instead of buttons but then the sound just plays over itself repeatedly as the page is shown on stage…
@ShaunP, you need to modify the gradient.
@Matt, A page flipping sound effect has been added to the new version of the Improved PageFlip.
